The Origins of PIMA

PIMA, or gossypium barbadense, as it is officially known, is a highly-valued luxury cotton primarily grown in the southern states of America. The name PIMA is a reflection of Liverpool’s strong links with the cotton industry, originally forged in the eighteenth century when cotton started to arrive via the River Mersey. Many Liverpudlians, including Holts and Rathbones, went on to make their name in the cotton trade and popular myth states that cotton bales were used in the foundations of the Liver Building.

Even today, the world’s leading cotton trade association is based in the city. In PIMA bar we revel in this affiliation and are proud to offer you a selection of the southern states’ finest liquors, supported with some of England’s most luxurious spirits and delivered to you with our legendary Liverpudlian hospitality.

This elite and strictly-reserved VIP area in the Hilton Liverpool hotel’s PIMA bar can play host to intimate events, and offers private table service in a stunning setting - perfect for lavish parties and corporate gatherings.

Choose from a wide range of delectable dining options and drinks, from champagne and nibbles to exquisite hand-crafted cocktails. PIMA Prive is available to hire for up to 15 guests. Other areas of PIMA bar is available to hire for larger parties.
